Portwest vs Regatta vs Result: Best Workwear Brands for Tradespeople

Why does the workwear brand matter?

The garment is the foundation of any branded uniform. A well-made jacket or polo looks smart for longer, survives more washes and gives your logo a better base. Choosing the right brand for the job also means fewer replacements and happier staff.

At Inastitch we supply garments from several trade brands and embroider or print them. Three we are asked about most often are Portwest, Regatta and Result. Each has its strengths, and the best choice depends on your trade, budget and working conditions.

Portwest: wide range for trades and PPE

Portwest is known for a very broad workwear and PPE range, covering everything from polos and sweatshirts to hi-vis, flame-resistant clothing and work trousers. That breadth makes it easy to kit out a whole team, including site staff who need protective garments, from one brand.

Portwest suits construction, engineering, logistics and facilities teams who need practical garments in a full size range. Browse our Portwest range.

Regatta: outdoor heritage for jackets and layers

Regatta has an outdoor clothing background, and its professional range is popular for waterproof jackets, softshells, fleeces and insulated layers. If your team works outside through the winter, Regatta outerwear is worth a look.

It suits landscapers, tree surgeons, groundworkers, delivery drivers and anyone who needs weather protection with a smart finish. Browse our Regatta range.

Result: smart outerwear and workwear

Result is known for jackets, softshells, fleeces and workwear that balance practicality with a smart look, including a dedicated workwear line. It is a popular choice for teams that meet customers as well as working outdoors.

It suits trades that visit homes and businesses, facilities teams and event staff. Browse our Result range.

How do the brands compare?

  • For a whole team including PPE and hi-vis, Portwest offers the widest single range.
  • For winter outerwear and weather protection, Regatta and Result are both strong choices.
  • For a smart, customer-facing look, compare Result and Regatta softshells with Portwest polos and sweatshirts.
  • For budget and value, compare like-for-like garments across all three, because prices vary by style.

Which garments take a logo best?

Most trade garments embroider well on the left chest. Softshells and waterproof jackets need care, because stitching through a waterproof membrane can affect water resistance, so we may suggest an alternative position or method. Our guide to softshells, gilets and fleeces covers winter layers in more detail.

How do you choose for your team?

  1. List the jobs your team does and the conditions they work in.
  2. Decide on a core kit, such as polos, a mid-layer and a jacket.
  3. Pick one colour that matches your branding and works across the garments.
  4. Ask for samples or advice on sizing before ordering for everyone.
  5. Keep the same styles so reorders match.

Frequently asked questions about workwear brands

Do you supply the clothing as well as add the logo?

Yes. We supply the garments from trade brands such as Portwest, Regatta, Result, Gildan and Fruit of the Loom, then embroider or print them, so you deal with one supplier from start to finish.

Can you mix brands in one order?

Yes. Many teams choose polos from one brand and jackets from another. We can coordinate colours so the branding still looks consistent.

Can you embroider waterproof jackets?

Often yes, but stitching through a waterproof membrane can affect water resistance. We will advise on the best position or method for the garment you choose.

Is there a minimum order?

We welcome small orders as well as large ones, so a sole trader kitting out one van and a club ordering a full squad are both looked after. Tell us your quantity when you ask for a quote and we will advise on the best value option.

Can I see a proof before you make my order?

Yes. Once your logo is prepared we can send a visual showing the position and size on the garment for you to approve before anything is embroidered or printed.
